MASSENA -- The Massena Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $8,515 to Massena Memorial Hospital to purchase a bladder scanner. The device will be used throughout the hospital in all patient care areas, MMH public relations director Tina Corcoran said.
“We really appreciate the generosity of our hospital Auxiliary,” said Sue Beaulieu. “The Verathon Bladder Scanner is a non-invasive instrument that measures the amount of urine in the bladder; this helps determine whether a patient needs to have a Foley catheter inserted. This will help decrease the number of patients needing a catheter. The benefits are increase of comfort for the patient and prevention of urinary tract infections for the patient because of catheters."
