MASSENA -- A Massena man is running a fundraiser with a $20,000 goal to upgrade the sound system at Massena Arena.
Curt Wood has started a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/2436735j along with an account at Massena Savings and Loan where people can also give toward the cause.
The system, which Wood says will resist impacts from hockey pucks and lacrosse balls, will be operable from rinkside or the arena office.
Speakers will be above the ice and each bleacher section and in the lobby.
Wood says the speaker cases are made by a company that specializes in arena and gym sound systems.

“The goal of $20,000 seems to many as a bit steep, but to compliment the beautiful locker rooms that are being built and donated by Perras Excavating and the Mark Tyo Foundation can really make this facility even better than it already is,” Wood said in a prepared statement.
