MASSENA -- Village police say they charged a man with felony assault for allegedly breaking two bones in his girlfriend’s arm during a domestic dispute.
Jeffrey D. Fontaine, 45, of 45 Spruce St. is facing one count of second-degree assault.
According to a statement his girlfriend Sharonlyn LaValley gave to police, the two had been drinking to celebrate her birthday. She said he was pestering her while she was using her computer and she told him to stop. She told police he then grabbed a vase and smashed it against her left arm, breaking two bones. She said she sought treatment for her injuries at Massena Memorial Hospital.
In her statement, she requested the court issue an order of protection.
Fontaine was arraigned in Massena court by Justice Eric Gustafson. He paid $1,500 bail and was released.
