MASSENA -- A Massena man is jailed after an incident where he is accused of making a mess in a store and then pulling a knife on a clerk.

Terry P. Pitts Jr., 41, of Bob’s Motel room 8, Massena is charged with second-degree menacing, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree harassment, police said.

On Jan. 19, police say they got a report from the South Main Street Sunoco reporting that a man, who was later identified as Pitts, was in the store “strung out and destroying property.”

Police said a clerk approached him to ask if he needed help, and Pitts pulled a knife on the person.

When he was taken into custody at 8:47 p.m. that day, Pitts was in possession of pills and two hypodermic syringes, police said.

He was arraigned in Massena court by judge Joe Brown and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, police said.
