MASSENA -- A village resident was recently charged for hotwiring his meter box to get free electricity after his power had been disconnected.
Daniel P. Robertson, 39, of West Hatfield Street was charged 8:26 a.m. May 3 with fourth-degree criminal mischief and theft of services: electricity, police said.
The day before his arrest, Massena Electric Department had disconnected the power at his 110 West Hatfield St. residence for not paying his bill, police said.
The following day, an MED inspector noticed the meter box seal had been cut, and Robertson had hotwired it to get free electricity, police said.
He was arraigned in Massena court by Justice Patrick Serguson and released after posting $300 bail, police said.
