Chad M. Englert, 33, of 19 Danforth Place is charged with third-degree assault, second-degree harassment and obstruction of breathing, police said.
His girlfriend, Jaclyn Schlee, told police he assaulted her at home after becoming enraged that other men spoke to her while they were out drinking, according to court documents.
He allegedly kicked her multiple times in the stomach, which caused her to fall over and hit her head on a coffee table and also caused a cervical sprain, court documents state.
During this, he stomped on her throat and neck, restricting her airflow, court documents state.
Englert gave a statement to police claiming self-defense. He alleged Schlee, who was not charged, was the primary aggressor.
Englert was arraigned in Massena Village Court by Justice Eric Gustafson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond, police said.
