MASSENA — The Town Council on Wednesday voted to contribute $2,500 toward this summer’s Bassmaster Elite event in Waddington.
Waddington Mayor Janet Otto-Cassada went before the board last month and asked for a chip-in since there is a cost associated with hosting the event. Last year they gave $5,000.
“I don’t know if we can go the $5,000 this year,” Councilman Tom Miller said.
“I think I would like to see if possible I think a booth representing Massena. The last time Bassmaster was in Waddington I didn’t see a lot of traffic here,” Councilman Sam Carbone said. Otto-Cassada said they could, and added that chambers of commerce are invited to set up a free booth.
“We have every year given any chamber that wanted to set up their own free area … we haven’t had a lot of response,” she said.
“We have a lot of residents from Massena that go up there and take a look. It’s a good event for everybody,” Councilman Sam Carbone said.
