Massena Chamber's holiday decorating fundraiser underway

MASSENA – The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce is holding a holiday decorating fundraiser for Downtown Massena and Veteran’s Memorial Park on Andrews Street.

Tickets are available for $5 for a drawing to win an Apple iPad, Apple iPod Touch, or Nintendo Wii.

Tickets can be purchased through chamber board members, local businesses or at the chamber office on 50 Main St.

The drawing will be held Thursday, Dec. 30.

Over the past few years, the chamber has had the opportunity to decorate the memorial park and downtown Massena, but the decorations are in disrepair.

With limited funds, they are holding this fundraiser to purchase decorations.

"New trees and garland have been placed at the Veteran's Memorial Park, 6-foot snowflakes were put up this week on Main Street by the Massena Electric Department and we will soon have our new 14 foot tree for the park," remarked Michael Gleason, Executive Director.

"Our goal with the new decorations is to help brighten the holidays and renew the holiday spirit in the Massena Community," he added.

Plans have been made to keep the holiday lighting on through the 2011 Massena Winter Carnival being held Jan. 29-Feb. 6.
