MASSENA -- A Massena Central senior with cystic fibrosis received a double lung transplant earlier this week.

Stephanie McKeel has been in and out of Boston Children’s Hospital for over a year.

Earlier this week, she received the news that a potential donor was identified. She was in surgery that same day.

Shortly after, Stephanie came out of surgery with two new lungs.

She is currently in ICU at Boston Children’s Hospital and still has a long road of recovery ahead of her.

To send her a card or donation to McKeel, send to Boston Children’s Hospital, Cardiac ICU, Room #21, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.

More than $7,200 has been raised on a Crowdfund page set to help pay for medical and transportation expenses for McKeel at http://bit.ly/1rVjKr8.

Kick it for Stephanie, hosted by the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) and Volunteer Services, was held April 2 in St. Lawrence University’s Leithead Fieldhouse where over 250 volunteers and participants came together to support McKeel.

Over $4,000 was raised at this event for Stephanie to cover travel and housing expenses.
