MASSENA -- The Board of Education on Thursday appointed a teaching assistant and several substitutes, and okayed leaves of absence and resignations.
The board appointed Rachael Janos a Jefferson Elementary teaching assistant, effective Dec. 14 at a $33,371 salary.
The board appointed substitutes including: Samantha Page, long-term junior high teacher sub, Jan. 7 to a to-be-determined date, $100 to $150 per day; Jefferson Elementary long-term teacher sub Diane Toth, Jefferson Elementary long-term teacher sub, Dec. 10 to Jan. 31, $100 to $150 per day; teacher/teaching assistant sub Kourtney Cook, effective Dec. 5, $90 or $85 per day; support staff subs Jessica Love (effective Nov. 15), Allison Agen (effective Nov. 15), and Katelyn Borey (effective Dec. 11), $11.25 per hour each; registered nurse substitutes Megan Poupore (effective Nov. 27) and Melissa Lauzon (effective Dec. 4), $100 per day each.
The board granted a leave of absence to Jefferson Elementary teacher Cassondra Barney, effective Dec. 10 to March 22, and high school food service helper Tammy Ashley, effective Nov. 16 to Dec. 12.
The board accepted resignations from high school guidance counselor Erin Covell, effective at the close of business on Nov. 30 and high school school counseling assistant Jodele Hammock, effective at the close of business on Dec. 31. The board also accepted Jill Miller resigning her role as junior high special education department chair effective Dec. 3.
