CANTON – A Canton resident has been charged with felony driving while intoxicated and several vehicle and traffic offenses and was ordered held without bail after an ATV accident left him with leg injuries.
Andrew M. France, 33, 442 Cousintown Road, failed to negotiate a curve at about 9:30 Tuesday night and hit a utility pole as he drove his ATV on Cousintown Road, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies.
France was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where he was treated for leg injuries and released.
Deputies charged France with felony DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to keep right, unregistered ATV, uninsured ATV, and unlawful operation of an ATV on public roads.
France was arraigned in Hermon Town Court and held.
The incident is still under investigation, and more charges are pending.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by state police, Canton Rescue and Pyrites first responders.
