POTSDAM – Following an undercover investigation Potsdam police said they charged a Vermont man with selling prescription drugs in a local convenience store.
Caley P. Winans, 39, Rutland, Vt., was charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance on Oct. 29 at 9:47 p.m., police said.
He allegedly sold alprazolam (Xanax).
Winans was in possession of 119 pills at the time of his arrest and a total of 195 pills were seized as a result of the incident, officers said.
He was arraigned by Judge Charleson and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail on $10,000 bail, police said.
Potsdam police were assisted in their investigation by drug task force detectives from the St. Lawrence County sheriff’s office.
Police said their investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
