MADRID -- A woman who had two calves die due to inadequate shelter is charged with a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.
Joni L. George, 32, of 2340 St. Hwy. 310, Madrid, was charged after a complaint to the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office that two of her calves had died as a result of inadequate shelter and that other animals were in jeopardy.
The sheriff received the complaint Feb. 10.
George was issued a ticket ordering her appearance in Madrid Town Court at a later date.
