NORWOOD -- A Madrid man was jailed on $10,000 bail after allegedly stealing railroad materials and fleeing to Florida, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.
Alex J. Amyot, 37, was charged with third-degree larceny, a felony, for allegedly stealing several tons of railroad plates, conversion bars and other assorted railroad metals from a business in the Norwood are during August of 2012, deputies said.
At the time, Amyot allegedly fled to Florida, where he was caught and charged as a "Fugitive from Justice" on Jan. 5.
Deputies said Amyot was extradited from Florida and arraigned in Norfolk Town Court by Justice George Grubee and held on $10,000 bail of $15,000 bond.
Amyot was ordered to appear in court at a later date
