NORWOOD -- Local teens will join together in Norwood to protest in-store tobacco advertising on May 31, World No Tobacco Day, in an event coordinated by St. Lawrence County Reality Check.
They will gather blindfolded to say that dangerous tobacco marketing should be removed from stores where kids shop.
A virtual demonstration will also be held online as teens from across the state will post photos on a special Facebook page set up for the effort.
An online petition urging people to take a stand against in-store advertising has also been posted at TobaccoFreeNYS.org.
Anti-smoking advocates say in-store promotions are a major cause of youth smoking.
