A little snow today, cold tonight then warming, snow and rain into next week in St. Lawrence Valley

While still cold, daytime high temperatures will be rising over the next few days, as will the chance of snow and then snow and rain in the St. Lawrence Valley

The high today is expected to be in the low teens, but the temperature will drop well into minus territory again tonight, to about -10.

Highs are expected to be in the mid-teens Sunday and nearing 30 degrees on Monday.

A little snow is expected this afternoon and into tonight, according to the National Weather Service, especially on the west-facing slopes in the mountains.

The chance of snow pops up to 60 percent Monday, with a couple of inches expected into Monday night, and then on Tuesday and through the next few days, with rising temperatures, some snow, some rain, and a mix of the two are predicted.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:

• Today: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 11. Wind chill values as low as -1. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the morning. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

• Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around -10. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

• Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -4. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon.

• Sunday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 3. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Monday: Snow likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 28. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

• Monday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 26. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Tuesday: A chance of snow before 2pm, then a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

• Tuesday Night: A chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a low around 33. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

• Wednesday: Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. South wind 7 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Wednesday Night: Rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 22. South wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Thursday: Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. West wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Southwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

• Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 19. West wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
