Great Lakes Seaway Trail Beauty of the Byways Quilt Show Manager Lynette Lundy-Beck with the Viewers Choice runner-up quilt: October Sky along the St. Lawrence River by Jan English of Lisbon.
LISBON -- A Lisbon woman has been named runner-up in the viewer's choice category of the Seaway Trail, Inc. "Beauty of the Byways" quilt show.
The 2013 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Beauty of the Byways Quilt Show asked contestants to create quilts that captured byway experiences along Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence, through the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, and on roads throughout America.
Runner-up honors went to Jan English of Lisbon, for her 84-inch October Sky quilt based on a pattern by Cathy Wierzbicki and made with hand-dyed fabrics.
“This was my first attempt at quilting. I wanted to show the beautiful hues of fall along the Great Lakes Seaway Trail. At the end of a sunny fall day on the St. Lawrence River, the breathtaking sunsets showcase the departing Canadian geese as they head south for another winter,” English said.
