WADDINGTON -- A Lisbon man accused of passing 11 bad checks at the Waddington Kunoco Food Mart in August amounting to more than $1,000 was sent to the county lockup on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bail bond.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies arrested Leon L. Ellis, 71, of 611 Futon Rd., Lisbon, following an investigation called in by Kunoco representatives. Deputies found that the 11 checks, totaling $1,45.61, were written on a closed account belonging to Ellis.
Ellis was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, arraigned before Judge Jennifer Appleby in Madrid Town Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond for bail.
Ellis is to appear in Waddington Town Court to answer the charges.
