Light snow is expected across the North Country today with most of the area likely to see less than two inches of accumulation, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Precipitation comes to an end tonight and attention will turn to a sharp cold front that will move across the area on Wednesday, forecasters say.
The high today is expected to be around 32 with cloudy skies and a 70 percent chance of snow.
Expect snow and snow squalls with the front, NWS says. Sharply reduced visibilities
and bursts of heavy snow will be possible with the snow squalls.
The precipitation comes to an end Wednesday night and very cold air moves in for Thanksgiving with dry conditions, the service says.
The forecast through early next week is as follows:
Wednesday
Snow showers, mainly before 5pm. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 28. South wind 7 to 11 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Wednesday Night
A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 7pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 2. West wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Thanksgiving Day
Mostly sunny, with a high near 14. West wind 9 to 13 mph.
Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 4. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 27. South wind 5 to 7 mph.
Friday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 19. South wind around 7 mph.
Saturday
A 40 percent chance of rain after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph.
