CANTON -- A Lake Placid man is facing multiple charges for allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old boy from St. Lawrence County.
Scott C. Waller, 43, was charged Wednesady with felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor. He is also facing misdemeanor counts of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
Canton-based state troopers said their investigation began about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 21 when the boy was reported missing.
Investigators say Waller met the boy on social media and they exchanged sexually explicit messages. He also allegedly sent nude self images to the child.
Waller arranged a rendezvous where he brought the boy to his Lake Placid home, gave him alcohol and engaged in sexual contact, police said.
Waller was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and released on his own recognizance with orders to appear on a later date, police said.
