POTSDAM -- Julia Ettie Crane's gold and ebony conductors baton is now on display at the Potsdam Public Museum.

Catie Dominy, SUNY intern, class of 2016, identified the baton while conducting research on the Crane collection of photos, archives, and objects.

The baton was donated in 1955 by Marjorie Sisson White, niece of Julia Crane.

It has three decorative gold mounts, the central one with an oval cartouche, inscribed "J Ettie Crane Xmas 1888".

This display is part of an exhibit titled, St. Lawrence Academy to SUNY Potsdam: 200 Years of Education, curated by Erin Cheney.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 265-6910.
