OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg residents will have a new option to get around the city Monday as St. Lawrence County Transit launches an intra-city shuttle.
A ceremony will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Riverview Tower to celebrate the new service, which is expected to help city residents who lack their own transportation. Rides will be provided free on Monday to help kick start the service.
The shuttle will operate weekdays with departures beginning at 6:33 a.m. and ending at 7:03 a.m.
The shuttle will include stops at Riverledge, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Centennial Terrace, Riverview Towers, Community Health Center, Center for Sight, Parkview Rise, Belmont Courts, Lincoln School, St. Peter’s Square, Veterans Affairs, Price Chopper, Walmart, Aldi's, Save-a-Lot and Rite Aide. A shuttle will also run twice a day to the St. Lawrence County Social Services Department in Canton.
Fare is $2 each way.
Bus passes are also available and come in 20-ride or 40-ride options.
Drivers can’t make change and all buses are wheelchair accessible. In order to keep the buses running on schedule riders are encouraged to show up 10 minutes before departure.
