Incumbent Janet Duprey held on -- but just barely -- in the Republican primary Tuesday for the 115th Assembly district, which includes Brasher, Hopkinton, Lawrence and Piercefield in eastern St. Lawrence County.

Duprey led challenger Karen Bisso 1,699-1,598. The results are unofficial and do not include absentee ballots or the nine write-ins that were reported.

While the 115th districts includes just a small portion of eastern St. Lawrence County, it covers all of both Franklin and Clinton counties to the east.

Clinton County is home to both candidates, and Bisso won there, 1,111-949. But that was offset by Duprey’s win in Franklin County, 709-437.

In St. Lawrence County, 50 votes were cast for Bisso, compared to 41 for Duprey.

Duprey has represented the district since 2006. Prior to that, she was Clinton County Treasurer from 1986-2006 and a Clinton County legislator from 1976-1985.

Bisso is a 28-year special education teacher and AP coordinator. She ran unsuccessfully for State Assembly in 2012.
