A Hogansburg man is charged with felony marijuana possession after state police say he failed to stop at a Customs and Border Protection and state police checkpoint in North Hudson.
On Thursday, state police say they charged Marlon L. Johnson, 42, with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
Troopers said that day around 4:15 p.m., Johnson, driving a 2010 Volkswagen, allegedly failed to stop at the checkpoint on Interstate 87 in North Hudson.
Police say federal officers chased Johnson for about three minutes and lost sight of him.
Customs and Border Protection officers later found the vehicle exiting I-87 at the exit 28 off ramp. Police say they found 44 pounds of pot in the vehicle and charged Johnson, the sole occupant.
He was arraigned in Schroon Town Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail, Lewis, troopers said.
