HEUVELTON -- For the second time, a Heuvelton man has been accused of cashing in what he said were rolls of dimes but which turned out to be pennies.

This time, he was jailed in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.

Jon L. Larue, 21, 5701 County Rt. 10, was charged with petit larceny Sunday by St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies for allegedly exchanging six dime rolls filled with pennies for $30 on May 15 from Tru North Pizza, 68 State St., Heuvelton.

An employee discovered the pennies several days later, deputies said.

Last week, Larue was arrested on the same charge after receiving cash for seven dime rolls filled with pennies at Perry’s Bottle Redemption Center in Oswegatchie.

Sunday, Larue was arraigned in Oswegatchie Town Court before being sent to jail, deputies said.
