HERMON – A Hermon woman who allegedly attacked her ex-boyfriend at Zorro’s bar has been arrested for falsely reporting he attacked her.
St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies have charged Jacinda L. Barney, 31, of 107 Church St., Apt. B, with felony first degree contempt in connection with the May 2 incident.
Deputies said Barney phoned police to say she had been attacked by her boyfriend and wrote a statement to police against him.
However, after conducting interviews with witnesses of the event, deputies determined Barney was the aggressor in the incident, despite an order of protection against her in favor of the ex-boyfriend. The protection order directed her not to harass or assault him, deputies said.
Barney was also charged with offering a false incident for filing, a misdemeanor.
She was arraigned in Hermon Town Court and released. A new order of protection was issued for the ex-boyfriend, deputies said.
