DEKALB – A Hammond man was sent to county jail Wednesday after he reportedly slid out the back door of a home he had been ordered to stay away from and hid from St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies in the woods.
Brian J. Simmons, 23, 536 South Hammond Rd., Hammond, was charged with resisting arrest and second-degree criminal contempt for violating an order of protection. Deputies report this is the third time they have arrested Simmons for violating the same order.
Deputies allege they responded to a noise complaint at 2649 State Rt. 812 in DeKalb and found Simmons at the residence, along with the female protected under the stay-away order. When deputies identified themselves, the occupants delayed opening the door long enough for Simmons to leave out the back door and hide in the woods, in spite of deputies' orders to come out.
Simmons was located a short time later back at the residence and arrested.
He was arraigned before Judge Curley in Canton Town Court and held on $500 cash bail.
