MASSENA – Skiing and snowshoeing at Nicandri Nature Center are now easier, with the addition of a groomer for winter sports trails. The groomer compacts snow and lays a track on the trails to provide a consistent surface to make winter recreation easier and more fun.
In addition, grooming will allow these activities to begin earlier and go later in the season, as well as to improve conditions when trails get icy after freezing rain.
Six miles of trails are open dawn to dusk daily. The center offers ski and snowshoe loans from 9-4 Wednesday-Sunday, with gear to fit all ages.
The Nicandri Nature Center is located in Robert Moses Sate Park at 19 Robinson Bay Road.
Free ski lessons and guided ski/snowshoe events are offered regularly. For more info, call 315-705-5022 or check the website: massenanaturecenter.com .
