Gov. Andrew Cuomo says that people in the North Country who are seeking work might take a look at the 96,000 open jobs are available and listed on the state’s Jobs Express website (www.jobs.ny.gov).

Of those, only 2,100 are in the North Country region, according to the governor’s press release, but the site sorts jobs by region and occupation, and also allows users to search jobs based on zip code and travel distance.

“Thousands of businesses are using Jobs Express to meet their workforce needs, and I encourage all job seekers to utilize this tool to find available opportunities today,” Cuomo said.

More than 7,100 businesses posted a new job order on the site in April 2014. Businesses using the site fulfilled nearly 55,000 job orders in April 2014, the governor’s press release said.

The occupational categories with the most jobs listed in April 2014 included sales and related, office clerical and secretarial, management, computer and mathematical, and healthcare practitioner and technical.

“We hear from job seekers and businesses alike how helpful Jobs Express is in their search for work or high quality job candidates,” said State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera. “This service, like all of those available for job seekers and businesses offered by the Department of Labor, is available at no cost.”
