GOUVERNEUR -- E.J. Noble Hospital will receive $346,500 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to procure direct patient care equipment to further physical and respiratory therapy, Congressman Bill Owens' office has announced.
Owens said, “As patient care increases, preventative care will improve, keeping the community healthy and driving down costs in the process.”
Noble Hospital is a rural medical community hospital in a federally designated “health professional shortage area.” The facility, opened in 1952, serves a wide range of patients, including military personnel and families from Fort Drum. In order to serve the large geographical area, the hospital runs five primary care clinics in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
Charles P. Conole, CEO of Noble Hospital, said, “This grant will allow us to move forward with various programs and help us to meet the electronic medical record needs that our community possesses.”
The modernization and renovation project at the hospital for the medical/surgical units and physical improvements for respiratory therapy, physical therapy and pharmacy will improve patient care amenities, and are due to be implemented from June 2010 through December 2011, the hospital says.
