GOUVERNEUR – A Gouverneur man injured in a hit-and-run accident in the village Saturday night has been identified as 46-year-old Richard L. White of County Rt. 12.

Gouverneur police say they are looking for a Chevrolet Impala that might have been involved in he accident, based on a part number from some debris at the scene of the accident, near Mills Park on Johnstown Road.

Evidence indicates the vehicle was westbound, and was damaged on its passenger side, to the headlight and mirror.

Officer Jason Whitton said White was found shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday at the side of the road by a passing motorist.

White was taken to E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur by Gouverneur Rescue with a cut to his face, a bruise to his head, and complaining of leg and hip pain.

His condition this morning was not reported.
