GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur man was charged with shoplifting twice on the same day at Kinney Drugs, Clinton Street, according to Gouverneur police.
Allen W. McDougall, 48, was charged with two counts of petit larceny at 11:44 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, officers said.
McDougall was alleged to have stolen Scott toilet paper (valued at $3.99) earlier in the day and when he returned to the store the police were notified.
As police were investigating the allegations, McDougall was observed by police in the store with more merchandise (Kotex tampons valued at $7.30 and Cottonelle wipes valued at $2.69) in hand and then bypassed the cash register without paying and left the store. Police stopped him and took him into custody.
He was released on appearance tickets returnable to Gouverneur Town Court.
