Republican Robert J. Smullen won the race for 118th state Asssembly seat Tuesday.
He received 26,451 votes, while Democrat Keith A. Rubino got 14,976. Smullen will replace Marc W. Butler, who did not seek re-election.
The district includes Madrid, Norfolk, Stockholm, Parishville, Pierrepont, Clare, Colton, Clifton and Fine in St. Lawrence County. It also covers Hamilton, Herkimer and Fulton counties, and part of Oneida County.
