A cold front dropping southward out of Canada will bring a chance of showers to northern areas this evening through midnight, with high pressure returning for Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). But before that, forecasters say sunny skies and warm temps will dominate North Country weather for the next few days.
Highs today will be near 80 with sunny skies, NWS says. There is a 30 percent chance of showers tonight with an overnight low of 48 expected.
Thursday will be a bit cooler with highs reaching 71, forecasters predict. Friday will warm up with a high of 81 likely and clear skies.
Unsettled conditions are expected for the weekend with periods of rain likely, along with the chance for a few rumbles of thunder.
The forecast through Tuesday is as follows:

Sunny, with a high near 71. North wind 3 to 7 mph.
Thursday Night
Clear, with a low around 47. Light and variable wind.
Friday
Sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Friday Night
Increasing clouds, with a low around 61. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph after midnight.
Saturday
A chance of thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Saturday Night
Occasional showers. Low around 61. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Sunday
Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 72. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
