The fund established to help the children of a Parishville couple killed in an accident in Ray Brook July 26 has reached $3,800.
Robert King, 1994 Parishville-Hopkinton senior class president now of the Troy area, was stunned when news reached people gathering for the class's 20th reunion that one of their classmates, Kimberly (Randall) Barney, had been killed just days before in a head-on vehicular collision in Ray Brook that also claimed the life of her husband, James, and seriously injured their 11-year-old daughter.
King and classmates started a GOFUNDME account for the Barneys' children to help with expenses.
King told us today that the fund had reached $3,800, and that donations will remain open until late this month, at http://www.gofundme.com/c4xz98.
The accident that claimed the lives of the Barneys allegedly was the result of a man whose pickup truck strayed into opposing traffic on State Rt. 86 as he fled state and Lake Placid police after a hit-and-run collision in Lake Placid. The driver, Trevor J. Sisto, 20, Ft. Covington, faces multiple felony and other charges.
