Four Ogdensburg, Oswegatchie residents jailed on strong-arm robbery charges

OSWEGATCHIE -- Four St. Lawrence County residents were jailed Thursday for allegedly assaulting and stealing about $1,700 from an Ogdensburg man early Thursday morning.

Troopers said that at approximately 4:56 a.m. Thursday, they responded to a reported robbery and assault of a 30-year-old man.

The victim reportedly told troopers that he was in the Village of Heuvelton around 2:45 a.m. when he got into the back seat of a Chevrolet HHR, in an attempt to get a ride home from three men and a female driver. Just after getting into the car, the men allegedly assaulted him and stole money from him.

The man was able to get away and the vehicle fled the area, officers said.

The victim was reportedly transported to Claxton-Hepburn Hospital by a family member where he was treated for facial contusions resulting from the assault.

Police said they charged the following people as a result of their investigation:

Deborah L. Marcellus, 34, Ogdensburg, was charged with second-degree robbery, felony.

Eric S. Lalonde, 30, Ogdensburg, was charged with second-degree robbery, felony, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felony, and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Jerome T. Dobbs, 26, Ogdensburg, was charged with second-degree robbery, felony.

Matthew A. Grennon, 21, Ogdensburg, was charged with second-degree robbery, felony.

Marcellus, Lalonde, and Grennon were arraigned in Oswegatchie court by Town Justice William Rupp, officers said.

Marcellus was reportedly remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, $2,500 bond.

Troopers said Lalonde and Grennon were remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond.

Dobbs was arraigned by the Town of Oswegatchie Justice Michael Hebert and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, or $20,000 bond.
