MORRISTOWN -- Ogdensburg-based state police say they responded to an accident on State Highway 37 early Sunday morning to a fatal motor vehicle accident that killed a Fort Drum Soldier.

Ronald J. Dupius III, a U.S. Army soldier stationed in Fort Drum, was reportedly driving a 2011 Toyota pickup truck eastbound near Brier Hill when he failed to negotiate a lefthand turn.

His vehicle then left the roadway down an embankment where it hit a raised driveway causing it to go airborne for 164 feet, troopers said.

The vehicle reportedly overturned for an additional 91 feet, officers said.

Dupius was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say their investigation is on-going.
