HANNAWA FALLS -- The former Potsdam Court Clerk who could still take a plea deal in a case charging her with embezzling more than $117,000 is now accused of driving her car into a victim's garage door and pickup.
Mary Jo E. Guyette, 44, Hannawa Falls, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief: damaging property greater than $250, state police said.
Troopers say Guyette drove her car into the victim’s garage door, intentionally causing damage and then drove into the victim’s 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup truck which was parked.
She allegedly caused damage to the front bumper.
She was charged at 12:45 a.m. and released on her own recognizance to appear in court at a later date, police said.
Guyette reportedly reached a plea deal in May following an investigation by state police and the state attorney general into allegations she embezzled more than $117,000 from the township beginning in June 2009.
She was arrested in June 2013, and was officially fired by the town in September.
Under the deal in May, she was to plead guilty to third-degree grand larceny, avoiding a grand jury indictment and a trial.
