OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg City Council sold nine adjoining parcels of land to Hozmerica, LLC., Monday.

Hozmerica is owned by former City Councilor Billy Hosmer. Hosmer is also the owner of Hosmer’s Marina and Smuggler’s Cafe, which are next to the nine parcels. Those businesses have been running since 2012. They include a bar, restaurant, bait shop and a marina with fueling and slips.

According to the resolution passed by city council, the properties will be combined into one deed.

Hozmerica will pay $10,000 for the properties.

City councilors were pleased with sale. Mayor Wayne Ashley said  the owner has done great things for the city’s marina district and believes he will continue to do so with the newly acquired property.

In an emailed response to questions regarding the development Hosmer said the property would be used to expand his businesses.

“The purchase of this property allows us to significantly expand our operation. Our short terms plans include expanded parking, seating, and storage space. Within the next few years we will be developing the new property, however our plans are preliminary and not ready for discussion as they are not finalized,” he said.

Hosmer served as city councilor from 2012 until 2015.
