A flood watch has been issued for St. Lawrence County from late Monday through Wednesday evening with record highs possible in the North Country, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Highs today will be near 36 with partly sunny skies, the service says. An overnight low of 26 is expected with mostly cloudy skies.
Potentially record warmth combined with periods of rainfall will lead to rapid snow melt and ice jam breakups, which will increase the threat for minor to moderate flooding across the region Tuesday and Wednesday.
Areas where ice jams remain in place from the mid-January thaw will be the most susceptible to flooding, NWS says.
Rain is likely Monday afternoon and evening with high temps of 46, forecasters say. There is a 100 percent chance of rain Monday night and a low of 41 degrees.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs in the 50s with rain likely on both days.
