Updated 2:22 p.m. March 9 to include arraignment information
CANTON -- A second person has been charged with assault following and is jailed with out bail an investigation of a “severely malnourished” five-year old.
Anthony J. Gladle, 32, was charged with a felony count of first-degree assault: causing injury through risk, troopers said.
He is the boy's father.
The arrest took place at 201 Market Street Tuesday at 12:52 p.m.
He was arraigned in Waddington Town Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, without bail.
Last Thursday, police charged Shelly R. Shirley, 44, with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Gladle was initially only charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Acting on an anonymous complaint made to the St. Lawrence County Child Protective Services, state police investigated the residence to check on the child. The boy was found to be severely malnourished and required immediate medical attention.
