An Edwards man was charged with manslaughter today in the shooting death of his hunting companion Dec. 11.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said they had completed their investigation of the death of Paul D. Hatch, 49, of 69 Hatch Rd., Russell, as he was hunting on his own property off of the Fordham Road in Russell with Tyler M. Soper, 20, 883 Trout Lake Rd., Edwards.
Investigators said that Soper fatally shot Hatch, and that the circumstances warranted a charge of second-degree manslaughter, a Class C felony.
Soper was arraigned in Town of Pierrepont Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail, pending further proceedings.
