MASSENA -- A prescription drug take-back day at Massena Memorial Hospital yielded 306 pounds of medications.
Between a drop-off site at MMH and the permanent drop box at the Massena Police station, 14 boxes of drugs were sent to the Drug Enforcement Administration for incineration.
The National Guard assisted with the event. They run a counterdrug task force and are part of the Drug Free Coalition, Coalition Coordinator Felicia Neahr said.
The Massena Drug Free Coalition, Massena Police and MMH sponsored the event.
People can drop unused or unwanted medications at the village police station anytime. The entrance is in the rear of the Town Hall.
