CANTON -- Sheriff's deputies pursuing a stolen pickup truck Friday from Stockholm to Potsdam and Canton took the driver into custody after the car hit a deputy's cruiser and then a telephone pole.

Colby J. Braddock, 24, 824 Hatch Rd., has been charged with grand larceny, fleeing police, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation, and numerous traffic violations.

Deputies said that they and Potsdam village police located on Elm Street a stolen 1995 Chevrolet truck they had been looking for.

Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver did not stop. He was pursued out of Potsdam and into the town of Canton.

Deputies said Braddock hit one of their patrol cars at the intersection of St. Rts. 68 and 310 in the village of Canton, and then a telephone pole at 310 and Judson Street, where deputies took him into custody.

Deputies were assisted by Potsdam and Canton police, U.S. Border Patrol and New York State Police.

Braddock was arraigned before Judge Mason in Potsdam Town Court.

Braddock was remanded to the county correctional facility in lieu if $2,000 cash bail.

More charges are possible, according to the Sheriff's Office.
