Docks, buoys to be installed along St. Lawrence River in Massena, Waddington

MASSENA -- The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will begin the installation of docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project the week of April 23.

The first docks to be installed will be at the Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch. The process to have all docks in place is expected to take about two weeks, but is dependent on the weather and river conditions.

Docks and buoys will be installed at Hawkins Point Visitors Center & Boat Launch, the Massena Intake docks, and the Massena Country Club docks.

Docks will also be installed in Waddington at Whittaker Park, the Old Milk Factory buoys and Howard Park.

All the docks and buoys are scheduled to be removed in the fall, depending on weather and river conditions. The fall removal is timed so the docks are removed before heavy frost or ice creates unsafe conditions for workers and the boating public. NYPA will notify the media and the general public in advance of the work.
