As part of the Conversations with Candidates series that North Country Matters does each fall, we recently brought the two candidates for St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators District 8 into the studio to discuss some of the issues in the campaign. District 8 takes in about half of the Towns of Canton and Potsdam and the Town of Madrid and is one of nine contested elections for the 15-member Board this year. These two shows conclude this year's fall election Conversations.

"Conversations with Candidates are designed to provide voter education that thoughtfully and civilly discusses issues of public policy and governance vital to our community. These non-partisan Conversations invite a candidate to explain his or her positions, records, and ideas outside of the 30-second campaign ad and the discussion constrains of the debate format," an announcement says.

The 8th District candidates talk about their legislative priorities, local taxes, county government and infrastructure, social services needs, and their visions for the county. District 8 takes in about half of the Towns of Canton and Potsdam and the Town of Madrid.
