Deputies credit public with helping to identify Ogdensburg woman charged with theft from Canton business

CANTON -- An Ogdensburg woman was arrested Wednesday following an investigation of a theft from Coakley Carpet One Ace Hardware, 2535 State Highway 68, Nov. 6, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies said that with help from the public and security video provided by the store they were able to identify and arrest Kimberly J. Smith, 35.

 She was charged with petit larceny.

Deputies did not say what she allegedly stole or the value of what was stolen.

Smith was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear in Canton court at a later date.
