MACOMB -- Macomb's highway superintendent is accused of assaulting a town councilman.
Ronald L. Cardinell, 60, of 2120 County Route 10, Macomb, was charged with third-degree assault after St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies received a complaint that he struck a 50-year-old councilman in the shoulder.
Deputies said the blow caused "physical injury which consisted of swelling and bruising."
Mr. Cardinell was released on an appearance ticket.
