A DeKalb Junction woman was charged with selling alcohol to a person under age 21 during an undercover “compliance check” Thursday, but bars in Gouverneur, Edwards, Hermon and Colton turned the agent away.
Alana A. Ashley, 21, of 1171 County Route 20, DeKalb Junction, was charged with prohibited sale of alcohol to a person under age 21 at Woody’s Store in Hermon. She sold alcohol to an undercover agent sent in as part of alcohol sales compliance check conducted by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies and the Seaway Valley Prevention Council, deputies said.
However, the undercover agent was denied service at Mrs. Beasley’s in Gouverneur, The Last Lap in Edwards, Zorro’s and The Skunk’s Nest in Hermon and the Finish Line in Colton, deputies said.
