HEUVELTON -- A Customs and Border Protection officer was sentenced to one year of probation and a $100 fine for falsifying official paperwork.
Todd L. Tyo, 50, of Heuvelton was convicted after a two-day jury trial for two felony counts of making false entries in a CBP cash register computer at the Alexandria Bay port of entry.
Tyo, a uniformed U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer, made the false entries in for receipt of cash from commercial trucks entering the United States from Canada in April and July 2011, according to U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian’s office.
The Department of Homeland Security investigated the case.
